My “Classic” Dac Ammonite, inspired by the real fossils that can be found right here, on the Yorkshire Coast!

Large Ammonite Set inside a Half Solid Brass “Rock”.

My brass versions are a rare occurrence due to the time it takes to make them!

The Ammonite is first made and then squashed into white hot, large chunks of steel (or in this case Brass) under my big Power Hammer, leaving an imprint behind that the fossil can then be taken in and out of, just like the real stone “nodules” that can contain the hidden treasures of fossils!

My Brass versions are inspired by specimens that have had their outer rock (containing Iron Pyrite) polished up to a lustrous, golden hue!

Mild steel will often rust when exposed to moisture, when kept indoors this will only be a surface rust and can be cleaned and protected by applying a product that contains oils or wax, such as furniture polish or WD40.
